VIENNA, AUSTRIA / COLLARMELE, ITALY: BIOP officially inaugurated its 560 Smc/h Biometano Energy plant in Italy’s Fucino region, Collarmele, a project that is also nominated for the AD & Biogas Industry Awards 2025 in the category “Net Zero Circular Solutions.”

Biometano Energy is the first own plant operation (OPO) project under BIOGEST’s new BIOP brand, holding an 85% majority stake. The plant uses BIOGEST’s PowerRing technology to process over 75,000 tons of chicken manure and vegetable residues, primarily fennel waste, into renewable biomethane, organic fertilizer, and food-grade CO₂. Future plans include the integration of photovoltaic systems to achieve energy self-sufficiency.

The AD & Biogas Industry Awards ceremony, hosted by the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) and the World Biogas Association (WBA), will take place on July 09, 2025, during the World Biogas Expo in Birmingham, UK.

Martin Schlerka, CEO BIOGEST, declares: “This project marks a milestone in our mission to deliver sustainable, own-operated biomethane plants across Europe and beyond. We worked hard to bring the BIOP project pipeline to life – and this is just the beginning!”

Silvia D’Amore, CEO Biometano Energy, continues: “Congratulations to the entire BIOP and Biometano Energy teams for their dedicated work in realizing this project – our dream came true. I am confident that our innovative approach will contribute to setting new benchmarks for the industry in Italy and beyond!”
