Foundation & Biogas Market Entry

Founded in Austria as a wastewater technology company, BIOGEST evolved into a biogas specialist after its 1999 acquisition, strategic market entry, and a management buyout in 2008.

OPO

Entry of an Austrian private foundation (40%) to support the expansion of the Own Plant Operation (OPO) business.

2012
First OPO Plant

Commissioning of the first OPO plant in Hradesice, Czech Republic (750 kW).

Market Entry UK

Entry into the UK market, with 4 OPO projects

2017
Market Entry Italy

Initiation of biomethane OPO development in Italy; first PowerSPF plant completed in 2019 in Northern Italy

Eiffel Investment Group

Eiffel Investment Group participates in BIOGEST’s capital increase as a minority shareholder and also provides a quasi-equity facility to its biomethane investment platform to drive BIOGEST’s own plant operation.
