It is the first Own Plant Operation (OPO) project under the new BIOP brand.
The biogas plant is based on the proven PowerRing technology and utilizes over 75,000 tons of agricultural residues annually - including mainly chicken manure and residues from vegetable processing such as fennel.
The result: high-quality, renewable biomethane, organic fertilizer and food-grade CO2. The project is based on a closed-loop system in which by-products are used efficiently.
This reduces greenhouse gas and nitrogen emissions and at the same time produces a high-quality fertilizer for regional agriculture. This creates real added value - for the region and for the partner farms. Short transportation routes and close cooperation with local farmers also contribute to a low environmental impact. There are also plans to integrate photovoltaic systems in the future to make the site even more sustainable and energy self-sufficient.
Each year, the plant will help avoid approximately 17,000 tons of CO₂ emissions, supply renewable energy to over 3,000 European households, and produce nearly 500 tons of organic fertilizer, according to the EBA Green Impact Translator.
Located in the Lazio region near Rome, the Roma plant will process approximately 53,000 tonnes per year of cattle manure, olive pomace, poultry manure, and vegetable residues into 475 Nm³/h of biomethane using BIOGEST’s PowerRing technology.
